AEDOSS- About the Shows!

AEDOSS is the acronymn for American Eskimo Dog Online Specialty Show! AEDOSS is merely our online nod of appreciation to the breed we love! This "virtual dog show" or online show is not only for the fun of it, but also a way for many of us to see our own dogs in a "show", or a way for some of us to see some really great eskie pics that might not be posted elsewhere.

The first show was quite a wild time for sure. It all started with a suggestion around the time of Westminster in February of 1999 that there should be an "online eskie show". Mary Wahl can be blamed for this...it was her "idea", though others probably have thought it would be neat to have such a thing too! It was Mary's suggestion(sorry Mary...I just HAD to give you a hard time once again for this!), however, that led to two very wild weeks! As we run the monthly eskie contest anyway, we already had a "prize", so making the February contest a SHOW was a natural extension for us. However....throwing a show together in such short time was quite a job for sure.

Within 48 hours of Mary's original suggestion, we had new pages posted and the show was ON! We took "entries" over a few days, then after posting all the entries in their appropriate classes, we opened voting. We also had judges for the show. Within less than two weeks we had gone from mere idea of the show to completion, with all the excitement, voting, the winners and judges picks selected, and even the final pages posted! Miller Time! Just kidding....but it was a pretty wild event. All in all it was a fun time and a neat experience. We've learned a lot, and with our new site, we hope to make the future shows even better!

For our first show we could only take "email" entries as the timeframe(or lack thereof) was very short. In the future, we plan on having the option of "mail in" entries for those who don't have images scanned in! We'll also revamp the classes and make some other possible changes. Keep checking out our AEDOSS pages for news and information though!

As each show will be a part of the eskie contests, we not only offer up prizes, but also offer up a featured donation.....a small donation going to a worthy canine cause! So, not only is it fun, there are prizes, and we try to do a little "good" with each contest as well. Since our main reason for running the eskie contests is "to continually remind us all of why we so love our American Eskimos", the online shows are a perfect extension of that appreciation! We think you'll agree!
