Giving Life a Second Chance

This auction was held to help reduce the bills incurred by Terry Thistlethwaite in veterinary expenses earlier this year. Further details are below and on the information page. Please read this story as it really helps all us doglovers understand the love of our dogs more! Briefly, though, Terry had taken in a foster eskie that had a mutated form of distemper, which was spread among her own dogs. Though the foster eskie survived, 11 of Terry's dogs(mostly Collies).....and 8 of them did not survive. Terry incurred many thousands of dollars in bills during this unfortunate incident, so financially it is horrendous for her, not to mention the emotional torture she had to endure through this ordeal. We are joining together, once again, to raise funds for a worthy cause. An eskie owner herself, Terry is also a "friend of the eskies", and we sure can consider her Collie's as "honorary eskies" as well! Terry is a friend to many breeds, and we sure want to help her all we can. Though we may not be able to eliminate the bills entirely, we want to help raise as much as possible to help her following her trials already! Please read Terry's story and help us help her, in memory of the "Heavenly 8" all we can! We are supporting those who help others as well as honoring the spirit of those who have done so for these wonderful eskies! Together...we can all help out in...

Giving Life a Second Chance...

Below is the original intro to the auction!

Auction Details- June/July 2000

Usually our dire need Eskies and "honorary Eskies (yes even a cat!)" write their own stories, but this one is different. This story is very sad, very tragic. An Eskie carried a mutated form of distemper into Terry Thistlethwaite's house. The Eskie did not get sick and HAS been adopted to a loving family. But.....Terry lost *8* of her own dogs, all of these being Collies! 11 Collies got sick and only 3 of the 11 survived. Fortunately, her Maltese, Eskie and white German Shepherd did not get sick. I, and most of you, can not even begin to imagine what it is like to lose 8 beloved dogs in such a short time.

PLEASE read Terry's story. In fact, it is a really necessary before you can bid! Let your heart lead the way....in helping Terry reduce the huge vet bill. Anyone wishing to make a tax-deductible contribution, can do so by donating to Heart Bandits and earmarking it for Terry. Heart Bandits will be happy to send you a letter validating your tax-deductible donation. I am more than willing to provide the info to you....contact me at pcassel@pa.net.

Terry did not have a computer when the tragedy occurred, but ….she does now (details in package #B000 for the auction!!!). I have talked to her on the phone and she is so nice. She really cares about her animals. She tried, at all expense, to save ALL the dogs, thus the very large vet bill. If this happened to any of our dogs, most of us would have done the same. Every life is precious. Two of her Collies were featured, by invitation, on Who's Who of Dogs! Several were working therapy dogs. Be sure to read the dogs' story. They had sooooo many titles (herding, backpack, carting, conformation, therapy and more)!

We have several different breed packages, including Collie, Sheltie, Chinese Crested, Poodle, Shiba Inu, Cockers, Doxies, Boxers, cats and more! We are trying to provide something for everyone. We want to keep your interest...and are always so very grateful for your support! I will be emailing some Collie fanciers and a Sheltier has offered to cross-post to the Sheltie list. A Chinese Crested fancier has offered to post to their list. Terry's white German Shepherd and Maltese are known in the dog circles! Please post this auction to ANYONE you think may be interested. The more the merrier! The more good we can do!

CHRISTMAS will be upon us in 6 months. Start your shopping early…start it right here! We'd love to see bids from NEW people. The outstanding bills are SOOOOO huge....every extra dollar can help!!! Think Christmas!!

SPECIAL NOTE: This is the first time I have solicited donations from the "big" dog suppliers. I contacted 6, and 3 have donated. The donations from PetsMart, That Pet Place/ThatFish Place and New England Serum are NOT listed in order of importance. They are listed in the order I received the donations. I buy from and HIGHLY recommend all 3 companies! Remember the dog friendly stores that are helping us in…..giving life a second chance!

If you are NOT a subscriber to the eskie_owners mailing list, and wish to get nightly updates, drop me a note and I will gladly add you to the auction distribution list.

This auction closes at 10 pm eastern time on Thursday, July 6th, 2000. All bids must be SENT by 10 pm eastern time!! I can receive the bids after 10 pm, but they must be SENT by 10 pm(eastern)! Winners will be announced the following day. Your wins will be shipped after Jill (auction treasurer) receives your payment. Winners do NOT pay any shipping for their packages....that is also donated by the donators!!!!! 100% of the money will go to the "Heavenly 8 Fund"! Auction rules can be viewed on the rules page! Winners will be notified by e-mail. All auction payments are due within 30 days after we notify you as the winner. Payment may be made by check or money order. Reminders will be sent out if needed. If there is a problem with payment, we will work with you. Just let me know.

If you wish to remain anonymous…maybe get a gorgeous gift for that special someone….and you don't want your name listed as the winner, no problem!! I will honor your request. Just let me know.

Unfortunately Terry's personal assistance dog Grace, is one of the Heavenly 8. Terry is training her other dogs to follow in Grace's pawprints! Plus, they have some uniqueness of their own. Skyloh can already find Terry's car in the parking lot. Trinket is trained to recognize low blood pressure! Aren't dogs SO amazing?

Remember the cause....the love....the need....help Terry put the financial part behind her....so she can move on, provide love, care and a home in......giving more lives a second chance. Terry did her best, but the "Heavenly 8" were called home! Remember our furkids are here on loan, someday they will ALL be called Home. Give your furchildren an extra hug and kiss tonight(they probably won't complain)! And…never take them for granted! They add so much to our lives, that we can NEVER repay them for their loyalty, love, devotion and their ability to make us laugh! I would NOT want to live in a world without them!

Hugs and Kisses, Luv and Licks from the Heavenly 8,
Pat Cassel-....and the furkids...Keesie Lacey and Eskies Jazzy & Mina …and introducing the pitter-patter of tiny Kees puppy paws(and not forgetting that all-important puppy-breath!!!), our newest family addition……darling "Tucker", who recently came "south" from Canada!

P.S.-We are off to a great start! Total is already at $20…..thank you VERY much CAROLYN DOLL.

P.P.S.-Terry, welcome to EskKeeVille Fundraisers! (Eskie-Keeshond) Hope you enjoy "your" auction.
