Caeser's Story: Caeser's story is sent to us by Wayne Mayes of Tender Heart Animal Rescue: A rescue colleague of ours was contacted by a homeowner about a stray dog running loose in their yard. They said it looked like a Spitz and if he didn't come and get the dog they were going to shoot it. The rescue person, Adam, went there to try and catch the animal but it was too frightened of people to let him get close to him. The dog ran away every time Adam got close to it. He identified the dog as an American Eskimo. Adam gave up after trying for over two hours and went home. He contacted us and we offered to try finding him a good home since we do American Eskimo Rescue in this area. The next day the homeowner called Adam again and said they had trapped the dog in the garage and told him to come get it. Adam arrived to find Caesar trembling in the corner of the garage unable to walk. They, the home owner, denied doing anything to him but he could run away the day before and now he could NOT even stand without crying out in pain. Caesar, even in pain, gladly accepted Adam's help to get out of there. Caesar licked Adam's face as he carried Caesar to the truck. Adam contacted us and on our advice Caesar was taken immediately to the vet. The vet said he had either a spinal injury that was pinching a nerve or possibly a brain injury but regardless of the cause the animal was obviously in pain when he tried to walk, and now could only hop like a rabbit(which was probably painful as well). The vet said a Milogram would have to be done to determine the cause of the pain and surgery would need to be done before permanent damage was done to the nerves in his back legs. The cost of the Milogram and surgery would be approx. $800. The vet also advised that unless the tests were run and corrective measures were taken that Caesar be put down to end his suffering. Caesar is a very loving animal and we couldn't just let him be put down without trying everything in our power to help him first. That is why we are asking for your help. We don't have a lot of money and all the extra funds we have are used to help animals in need. Many of you know me and we wouldn't be asking if your help wasn't so desperately needed to help this little one be able to walk again and lead a healthy normal life. Please help Caesar. |
