 Kasie - the Darling Eskie!

Hi, my name is Kasie.

I was surrendered to the MSPCA shelter in Brockton, MA by family members of my owner. My owner is suffering from cancer and had to be placed into a nursing facility and the family no longer wanted the responsibility of me. Can you imagine that?

Hey, am I cute or what?!

The Heart Bandit MA chapter director, Chuck Bruno, picked me up MSPCA shelter in Brockton, MA. I am a 4 year old tiny spayed female mini that highly resembles Chuck's Trinket. When we arrived at my FosterDad's home, I followed the other dogs and jumped out of his van. I did something to my rear leg when I jumped cause it started to hurt really bad. I cried out in pain. I was rushed to the vet and they took xrays. They found multiple fractures in my hurt leg. A triple spiral fracture starting at the ankle joint and spirally up from there. Much too complex a break from a jump out of the van especially considering that it is my hind leg and all us dogs land with all the pressure on our front legs. I heard them say they assumed that some degree of fracture was present prior to me jumping from the van and I landed just the right way to cause the fracture to complete. I had to stay at the vets. My FosterDad really felt bad for me. What a way to spend the first nite out of the shelter, all alone in the vet clinic! I guess the vet's was the safest place for me at that time. They took more xrays and put a splint on my leg. The vet really did not want to pin the bone considering the high possibility of arthritis that could develop in that joint.

My ribs appeared slightly bruised and my heart and lungs are over-sized. I am heartworm negative but my blood vessels are also enlarged in the vicinity of the heart. The vet did not seem that concerned about my ribs or enlarged organs and blood vessels. I am in great shape other than the fracture and the bruised ribs. I finally got to go home to my Fosterhome. I have really bonded with Jacqui. I cuddle and sleep with Jacqui at night. I love attention and am so easy going. Dad says I will only go to someone that can give me the attention I need. I'm pretty smart too (aren't all Eskies?). The other day Dad came home from work to find me in the crate without the cast on my leg. Now, how did that happen? Dad thinks somehow I managed to remove it in the few hours I was alone and........I ain't talkin! ;-)

My "Buddy Chuck" takes in a lot of rescues and is supergood to all of us! So I want to spread the word, if you are looking for an Eskie, check out the MA chapter. I also want to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all the people that have donated and bid to help my leg get all better. I love you all. Be sure to look at my pictures. I'm a real sweety!

Eskie Hugs, Kisses, Love and Licks,
Ms. Kasie
