Canine Court's Dog Food Information and Links

Note: We are in the process of updating this section, so apologize if things are a bit rough here for a while. If you notice any links still out of date, suggestions, etc., drop us a line. Our email link is below!

We are firm believers in quality food for dogs. No, not just that they get a "gourmet" meal, but rather that they are provided the best quality in their diets as is possible. There is a vast difference in many dog foods on the market, and understanding what we are feeding our beloved companions is only the beginning of providing them the best diets possible. Of course taking care of their health in ALL ways is advisable, and we hope that our pages can assist in some way on this journey.

Bear in mind that if you just read the literature and/or back of the bag on any dog food, you'd be hard pressed to think that there is any better food for your dog than the one you are reading about. CAUTION: that is sales literature......and it should be taken as that! It is far better to learn all you can(or at least more than you might right now) about what really goes into dog food AND what it means to the health of your dog(s). Many terms like "by-products", "preservatives", and "meal" have become so common-place that we don't even wink at them anymore. However....what do they mean? Well...fortunately, there are some sources to learn more about these things, as well as what it means to the overall health of our dogs.

NEW DOG FOOD DATABASE(coming soon)
We have some listings below, but are also working on a new "dog food database" for your use here. Yes, we ARE aware of Earl Wolfe's great work, and you can find a link to that below.....his pages are a great resource! We just wanted to do something differently to add to and complement his and other's resources in some respects, and so are working on our own database for everyone to use as a reference. Right now(July 2003), we are in preliminary and testing phases of the new database, and honestly, it will likely continue to be a work in progess with additions, changes, etc. as is needed. Thus, even once we get the database online, it will continue to evolve and improve. We have over 500 "formulas" and over 80 "brand sections" in the database JUST in dry foods alone so far. We have many "to be added" and such as well, thus, this is a huge project, but is taking shape nicely. If you are interested in checking this database out and giving us testing input, please feel free to write us and ask to check it out. We DO hope to have the first version of the database online soon, but will leave this text here until then! Eukanuba	Eukanuba, and Iams brand, is a well known line of foods.
Evolve Pet Foods	Evolve brand pet foods.
Excel Pet Foods	Excel brand foods, made by Royal Canin.
First Mate Pet Foods	First Mate Pet foods makes the brands FirstMate and Skoki.
Flint River Ranch	Flint River Ranch is a highly regarded brand by many of it's devoted users. They also utilize more or less a user-based marketing system, much like AMSOIL� and other companies have. Thus, you order via a "distributer"(individual), but the company actually ships the product to you. At least that's what we make sense of it. Therefore, "distributors" get a small commission off sales. We couldn't find a company headquarter website online, but there are LOTS of individuals(distributors) online with sites you can locate and learn more about this food from. We include a link to http://www.flintriverranch.org as it contains fairly good information. We do not necessarily endorse this or any product or any particular "distributor" of this brand, just that link will give you good information.
Go! Natural	For Paws Services Inc. is a Canadian food maker, making the Can-Pro, Summit, and Go! Natural brands.
Gravy Train	Yep, the well known brand, Gravy Train. This is also a Heinz brand pet product now.
Hill's Brand Pet Foods	Hill's, a division of Colgate, is the maker of the Science Diet, Prescription Diet, and now Nature's Best brand foods.
Iams	Iams company's well known brand food. They also make Eukanuba brand.

There is some interesting information on different qualities of ingredients on their site, but they also don't list enough details on their own foods as of yet. Worth a look for their comments on ingredient quality though!

Tuffy's	Well known brand made by a wholly owned subsidiary of KLN Enterprises, Inc.

Waltham	Waltham foods. They have an oddly structured site at present...you can learn about a lot, just not this particular line of foods there. We hope they'll straighten this up soon!
