Wisconsin B.A.D. Dogs Page

The Wisconsin B.A.D.(which stands for Bold And Dedicated) Dogs are a group of K9 Police units from a number of counties in northern Wisconsin. The counties have joined together for support, cooperative training, and other pooling of experience and resources. Not only do these dogs and trainers work in their respective counties, but are sometimes called on in special cases where they can be of great assistance. These units also train together and will attend various regional "trials" where they show off their abilities to local communities. If you EVER get to see one of these trials, do go, they are wonderful! To see how excellent these K9 units are is a great experience, and also reassuring to know that there are such units working in local communities! Awards are given at these various trials, and you'll see many that the Wisconsin B.A.D. Dogs have been given in the picture below. However, the "real" award of these units is the value they are not only to their local communities but also to the families of each of these units to whom these K9s are also pets as well as valued officers!

Here are the 6 B.A.D. Dogs units, representing Burnett, Washburn, Sawyer, & Rusk Counties; plus the communities of Rice Lake and Birchwood are also in this group!

Here is the first of the individual "cards" that we have copies of. Each officer has a number of these "cards", which are like baseball cards, that they can hand out to the public. Kids in particular LOVE these cards. AND, they are not only neat, they often have some great information and messages on the back of them!

And, here, we have the first of a few cards from the Washburn County unit, featuring Officer Dave Dennis and his K9 "Thunder". Thunder IS a German Sherpherd.....just VERY black overall.....a nice dog(we've met him!) and a great unit these two make! This was the first card we got like this, but look below for more recent ones!

Well.....we hope to add more pictures(particularly of the other units) in the future, but this is what we have now. Hope this has been a pleasure for you, and keep your eyes open for your local K9 units.....they are a tremendous asset to our communities and a real treat to meet!
