Pages of Nazareth
Welcome to our Nazareth Section. We haven't gone overboard in this section, mostly as The Official Nazareth Web Site is THE place for most all Naz Newz and information. We do have a few unique pages though, and that is what you will find here!
First, as we have been setting up this new site, we learned the sad news that Darrell Sweet, drummer and co-founder of Nazareth had recently passed away after suffering a massive heart attack prior to a US/CN tour in early 1999. Thus, we've setup tribute page to Darrell Sweet!
Nazareth are a Scottish band that found huge success in the 70s with such hits as "Love Hurts", "Hair of the Dog", "Razamanaz", "This Flight Tonight", and many others. Though the 80s saw less success and the 90s have seen changes in personnel, one thing has remained constant: a unique rock band that has survived through thick and thin. For a band to be able to do such hard hitting songs as "Expect No Mercy" and then turn around and be able to cut a ballad as tender and emotional as "Moonlight Eyes" or any number of other memorable tracks, is not an easy task, but it's always seemed natural for Nazareth. With the release of the band's 20th studio release, Boogaloo, they had been on tour in support of the album. Having just returned to the States to begin the 2nd of at least 3 planned tours of the US/CN in 1999, losing Darrell has obviously hit not only the band, crew, and their families hard, it has also hit Naz Fans worldwide in a way that leaves few words to describe feelings.
We have been fortunate enough to get to know the band and crew over the past few years, and it will never be the same without Darrell, but we also know that the remaining band members and crew are survivors and will hold each other strong throughout this tragic loss.
We have been working on The Book of Nazareth over the past few years, and were nearing a final release of the book, but will certainly need to make appropriate changes in the book prior to its issue. Unfortunately, though we'd discussed having Darrell do a foreward for the book, that will now not happen. We have setup a separate page about the Book of Nazareth, so you can learn a bit more about it there, as well as this is where we will be posting updates on the book!
Third, we have a Nazareth Merchandise page. Though we only have 2 different t-shirts at this time, they are worth taking a look at. We also a few issues of Joe Geesin's Razamanewz newsletter. So, if you're interested in Naz merchandise, do take a look at our Naz Merchandise page!
