DARRELL SWEET 1947-1999 Darrell was not only a co-founder of Nazareth, not only the band's drummer, but he also had more or less managed the band since the mid-80s. "Taking Care of Business" was as much a part of his input in the band as was his musical input. Though Darrell has meant different things to different people, with worldwide success in Nazareth, Darrell was able to touch many lives. Just the month prior to Darrell's death, I was able to meet up with band and crew at a gig in Minneapolis. As always, it's as much a get together of friends as it is a "show" when they come to this area. And it is this that I know I'll miss most, is the very friend that Darrell was to so many, including myself. Below are two pictures of Darrell, the first is a promo shot of the band from 1994, with Darrell on the far right, of course!
Second is an earlier shot of Darrell, from the late 70s.
And, when I went to look for a card to send band and crew, I figured I wouldn't find anything incredible. I was bowled over when I found the card below! So wonderful, yet difficult to read....though chilling, it was perfect! The front of the card is first and the "inner text" is in the blue-ish below that. What can I say.....yes, there will be echoes in sweet refrains...
