1988 Dodge B350 Van

Though just starting to get some things together for this van, here is some to get rolling on. Yes, B350 means it's a one ton, and is this one fun. The last year for the carbed 360, and this one's got it! Auto tranny, and it was otherwise pretty basic. Had been used as a "motor pool" van in the Twin Cities area. Not much rust, only a bit along bottoms of doors, and a few other little touchups needed. The color is nothing to brag about, but it probably kept the price down! I have been referring to this as the "creme puff", but it's been a pretty darn good van so far. Hope to be getting more pictures up before long, including some interior shots. LOTS of things I'd love to do with this van, besides touching up all the little things, I want to make the interior quite a site, and immensely practical for travelling and hauling! 4WD for this one? Well...with the beefy tires on this baby and its brute size, it's just begging for it! Not sure if or when that might happen, but it sure would be cool to convert it to 4WD!

Other attributes to this one. Seating for 12! Heavy Class III hitch! Without seats in it, you can haul a ton(literally) of stuff! Only came with AM radio, but I was able to trade a few cow pies for a factory AM/FM unit from a friend(thanks Greg!!!)...and it fits just fine! I haven't done much to this yet, as I still have Jeeps to be dealing with right now, but have gotten a few items taken care of. Have put together a "console tray/cover" unit that is ultra handy...pictures below, of plain console, console with tray only, and then the final full unit. I added a passenger side "beverage holder" as well since this pic!

Note that there are "pockets" sewn all around the three sides of the console skirt! 11 of 'em in total. GREAT for maps, note cards, pens, wet-wipes, napkins, even a few tools.....all kinds of great uses. I hope to get an "in van" picture of it in actual use...it's mighty handy for sure. The tray unit was made out of scrap wood and plywood I had, while the skirt was made from some vinyl wallcovering that I have plenty of. Bevvie holders were also "spare" or old units from previous vehicles, so no extra expense there. Thus, it was not only cheap, it ends up being ultimately practical. I have some more vinyl covering that is almost the exact color of the van, and I hope to make some "window shades" or curtains for the inside of the van...that should keep it a little cooler at times, and will be perfect. Haven't made seatcovers yet, but hope to get around to that before long....and YES, there will be pockets along the sides of the covers too!

Also, just made a "crate rack" for behind the drivers seat. This is to raise the two dog crates for the girls up about 10" off the floor. This gets it over the rear air blower unit and makes for a level setting for the crates. Not to mention storage space underneath. No pictures yet, but hopefully in the future I'll be able to add some of them!
