Welcome to the "Mouse" Directory

Interestingly enough, the one thing you won't find in our "mouse" directory is any mice! We don't use 'em! And we don't want 'em anywhere here! We did think it a cute name for our computer section and so have named this directory after the one thing that you won't find here!

Basically, we have some suggestions for making your computing use more practical, efficient, and valuable. As an extension of this, we have some software and services suggestions in our "Pioneer Picks" pages. These pages are filled with some GREAT software links and some simply intelligent programs. Definitely check those pages out in time!

ALL of our suggestions are for PCs(sorry Mac folks, we can't help you, but feel free to read along, you might just like the offerings enough to consider "converting"!)

Our first suggestion is to ditch that mouse! YES...though your computer most likely came with a mouse, for the most part, they are a real pain in the rodent's rump! Try a trackball! Oh sure, we know some folks who actually prefer mice, but after using both, we FAR prefer trackballs of most any kind over even the best mice! Mice have to be rolled around on that corny little mousepad, and have you ever had to lift the mouse back up at the end of the pad??? Sure you have....pretty inconvenient isn't it?? Well...consider a trackball! You can have your "cursor" at your fingertips....just roll the ball to move the cursor(no more swinging your "mouse" arm all day!). PLUS....talk about saving deskspace! You can have a trackball in HALF the space of a regular mouse pad, plus THAT'S it....no worrying about keeping your mousepad clear. A trackball is basically stationary, and you won't have to be stretching out after it to keep it on its little pad like a mouse! Take a look at the picture below. Though we've tried some different formats, and don't necessarily recommened any one brand or type better than another, the picture below is essentially the type of trackball we're currently using. It's just a little bit bigger than the size of a hand, and with the wrist rest(we've added foam for comfort), you only move your fingers to have COMPLETE control over cursor action. Having a third button is handy for "locking" instead of hold and drag. Overall....we just want to suggest that you try a trackball. No, the "trackball indrustry" isn't endorsing us, but we've found trackballs to be SO much better than rodents that we just want to make the suggestion to others. If you've considered a trackball, well, give it a try...you might just be hooked!

RIGHT CLICK your way around the web! YES, use that right button on your mouse/trackball and find some great versatility. In particular, when you "right click" on a link, you have the option to "open in a new window". You can also hold the shift key down while "left" clicking on a link and it will open the link in a new window automatically. Which ever way works better for you, we highly recommend it! AND, if you're really into viewing more than one page at once(it really is handy!), you might like to try out NetCaptor- one of the best browsers you can get ahold of(you can check it out on our Pioneer Picks page). NetCaptor allows multiple windows to be opened on separate tabs. Whether in NC or another browser, you could choose to KEEP THIS page open and yet open ALL the links off this page in new windows by choosing the new window method. In NetCaptor, this is efficient, practical, and valuable. You won't have to keep hitting the back button to return to a page you started from, and you won't lose that page full of links if you find one! Give it a try......you'll be hooked on this method once you see how practical it is. Again...just right click on a link and see your options, or hold the "shift" key down while left clicking on the link and you're cruising the net in style like never before!

We'll try to add more suggestions and ideas as time goes on, but most certainly wanted to mention these....feel free to send us your suggestions and ideas too...(just no mice, please!!!)
